Don’t Miss the DC State Fair This Weekend!
Just because Washington DC doesn’t belong to a state doesn’t mean it has no fair to call its own. In fact, the DC State Fair will be in its 10th year on Sunday, September 8th.
Taking place 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Gateway DC, the DC State Fair is a free celebration of everything the District has to offer in terms of farming and artistic talent. Peruse the local vendors showing off their arts and crafts for sale. Savor the variety of flavors provided by food and drink sellers. Craft beer aficionados will appreciate the special DC State Fair tribute beer, courtesy of The Public Option. Bring your furry friend along so they can participate in the pet parade– costumes are encouraged! And don’t forget about the contests. Awards will be handed out in a number of categories, including Best Fiber Art, Best Bud, Best Ice Cream, and Best Donut, just to name a few. You can even compete in double dutch, hula hoop, and watermelon seed-spitting.
